Betsey Fowler began sketching and painting at an early age. She holds several advanced degrees in art from the University of Iowa. In 1972 Betsey married Jim Fowler, then co-host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, and spent years living in the wilds of Africa.
She has been painting large canvases of the human figure, of animals, of abstracts and of landscapes for several years. Betsey finds that painting close to real size allows a kind of free association and dynamic interaction with the canvas. Painting for her does not demand that she represent the exact form, but rather allow the excitement of developing a mood around which the artist and the viewer can speak to
